Benefits of Membership
To become a member organisation, your organisation is required to:
 
 
  • be a not-for-profit organisation
  • have Public Liability and Voluntary Workers insurance cover
  • only offer positions to volunteers that are not replacing paid staff
  • nominate a person responsible for managing volunteers
 
 
Recruiting Volunteers:
SVSA promotes volunteering opportunities through a range of sources including the internet, local newspapers, brochure distribution, Centrelink and most importantly, through word of mouth by other volunteers.  As a financial member of Southern Volunteering SA (Inc), your organisation can identify positions for volunteer recruitment.   Individuals interested in volunteering are interviewed by SVSA and have the opportunity of selecting positions of interest to them.   Your volunteer vacancy will form part of the range available.   SVSA offers assistance in identifying the tasks and scope of the positions, if required.
 
 
 
Training Volunteers:
SVSA offers a broad range of training to volunteers. The training topics are compiled from consultation with member organisations.   In addition, volunteer training can be tailored to an organisations requirements at a reasonable cost to be negotiated.   A schedule of the training is sent to each member organisation half yearly. Managing Volunteers:
Professional volunteer management support is provided through consultancy and up to date volunteering information.   As a member organisation you are invited to attend the Southern Regional Manager’s Network or South Coast Managers Forum, which meets bi-monthly to support volunteer manager’s through information sharing, guest speakers and networking opportunities.
 
     
 
Keeping you informed:
SVSA produces a quarterly newsletter on volunteering and volunteer management issues. The newsletter is sent to all organisations and is available on this web site.  Click here for earlier newsletter.
 
     
 
Resources:
A listing of products to promote and support volunteering is available through this web site.   From time to time, such as during National Volunteer Week in May, promotional posters are also available.

As a financial member of Southern Volunteering, your organisation has voting rights at the SVSA Annual General meeting.
